SJD Program

The Doctor of Juridical Science (SJD) is the most advanced law degree at American University Washington College of Law. The program brings together aspiring legal academics and other top legal professionals from around the world who wish to research and write a dissertation of publishable quality under the instruction of faculty members who are recognized experts and leading practitioners in their fields.

Liron Brand Koifman, an SJD candidate at American University Washington College of Law, is completing her dissertation titled, "Jewish Family Law in Israel – Examination of Family Law in a Modern Democracy.” Her academic interests and professional background include: Family Law, Gender and the Law, Women in Legal Education and Israeli Tort Law. 

Prior to joining the Washington College of Law SJD Program, Mrs. Brand Koifman served as an Associate at Naschits Brandes Amir and Co., one of Israel’s top law firms, from 2008-2014.
