Ricardo Ramirez, '1995. Former Appellate Body Member of the World Trade Organization.
I was not sure that I wanted to be a trade lawyer, but after attending American University Washington College of Law, I knew. My time in the LL.M. program and the really great exposure I had to trade were so influential. In the end it helped me get my job with the [Mexican] government.
Rafaela Souza Balbino, ILSP LL.M. (International Trade) '2019
My experience with American University WCL has been great. As soon as I arrived from Brazil, I was helped to choose from the wide variety of courses so I could specialize in International Trade and Investment. Besides the quality of the classes and professors, who are incredibly helpful and supportive in and outside the classroom, it has been incredible to have the opportunity of studying with people from all over the world. In parallel, Moot Court competitions, seminars and special events give us the opportunity to network with faculty and professionals who work in the field. I am very grateful since this whole experience was determinant so that I was offered an internship at the United Nations in New York City next semester.
