American University Washington College of Law receives top ranking for Law & Government in the Winter 2020 edition of preLaw Magazine.

Presented by AUWCL Program on Law and Government, AU School of Public Affairs, and the Sine Institute of Policy & Politics, former House Judiciary Committee lawyers discuss the impeachment process including the US. House of Representative's role in an impeachment investigation and its adoption of articles of impeachment. They also discuss the philosophy behind the creation of the impeachment remedy contained in the constitution and how effective that philosophy has been.

On Wednesday, Oct. 2, author and Washington Post Associate Editor Bob Woodward, along with Chair of the Council of Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency Michael Horowitz, discussed the significance of federal oversight – including the importance of public transparency and investigations into impeachment – during the Program on Law and Government’s “Oversight & Accountability: Who Watches the Government?”

On Friday, April 12, the American University Legislation and Policy Brief presented its inaugural bipartisan symposium, “What’s Working in the 116th Congress.”

On Tuesday, Sept. 25, American University Washington College of Law’s Program on Law and Government and the American Bar Association Division for Public Education will welcome to the AUWCL campus a panel of U.S. Supreme Court experts for a discussion on the future of the Court and its upcoming cases.

On Wednesday, Sept. 5, American University Washington College of Law’s Program on Law and Government hosted a panel discussing the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court.

American University Washington College of Law is pleased to announce the appointment of three Senior Affiliates to the Program on Law and Government, beginning in the Fall semester. As Senior Affiliates, Louis Caldera, Bettina Poirier, and Steven Shapiro will teach, counsel and advise students, organize academic and career planning events, and serve as resources to faculty and staff.
