WCL uses Eagle Service for course planning and registration. Student Planning is accessed via the portal (https://myau.american.edu). The Eagle Service link can be found under the Academics menu. Registration for continuing students occurs in November for spring classes, and in April for summer and fall classes. Each semester, registration information is sent to a student’s AU e-mail address from the Office of the Law School Registrar. Use the links below to review the course listings page in advance of the registration date to be sure you have the opportunity to plan a class schedule and seek academic advising prior to registration.

LLM students should seek academic advising through their individual programs. Be aware that specific courses required for JD students, including all 1L doctrinal courses and Advanced Legal Analysis, are limited to JD students only. Other courses such as Criminal Procedure and Evidence are available to LLM students only with the permission of their academic advisor. Please seek advising before registration to ensure you are meeting both the LLM degree requirements as well as any additional bar exam requirements for foreign lawyers.

At WCL, registration priority is set by anticipated graduation date. Students closer to graduation will register before students who have a later anticipated graduation date. Rising 4L, 3L Full Time, and 3L Part Time (in that order) will register before lunch and rising 2L Part Time then 2L Full Time students will register after lunch and continue until the end of the day. Within each cohort, students are grouped randomly. Students in a dual degree program will have two separate registration times for AU classes and Law classes.
