AUWCL Kicks Off Orientation Week with Alumni Panel, Capitol Tour
As part of Orientation Week, the Program on Law and Government and the WCL Chapters of the American Constitution Society, the Federalist Society, and the National Lawyers Guild organized a panel presentation for incoming 1Ls featuring alumni currently working in the House of Representatives and the Senate. Lauren Dudley '12 (Law & Government LL.M. '13), Amy Jones '03, and Tim Daniels '13 presented to the incoming class.
Law School Holds Annual In My Back Yard Day of Public Service
Every year before classes begin, our students, faculty, and staff get together to participate in the In My Back Yard (IMBY) Day of Public Service. The event celebrates AUWCL's longstanding commitment to public service and provides incoming students with an opportunity to meet new classmates and give back to the D.C. community. The event takes place Tuesday, Aug. 15, and features more than 200 volunteers that will help out at a number of city organizations and non-profit groups.
Dean Nelson Appoints Professor Padideh Ala'i Faculty Director of the International Legal Studies Program
AUWCL Dean Camille A. Nelson has appointed Professor Padideh Ala'i as faculty director of the International Legal Studies Program beginning Aug. 1. In this capacity, Ala'i will promote, represent, and coordinate the law school's renowned international programs, including the International Legal Studies Program which has nearly 4,000 LL.M. alumni around the world. Ala'i is a professor of law who specializes in the areas of international economic law, law of the World Trade Organization, and comparative law.
