    The law school is pleased to announce Bryan Stevenson, Founder and Executive Director of the Equal Justice Initiative, as our 2017 Commencement speaker. The law school's commencement will be held at 1:00pm on Sunday, May 21, at Bender Arena.

  • Academy on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law Hosts 22nd Inter-American Human Rights Moot Court Competition

    The 22nd Inter-American Human Rights Moot Court Competition will commence this Sunday, May 21 at the Tenley Campus. The trilingual competition (English, Spanish and Portuguese) will bring together 96 teams from 25 different countries to argue a hypothetical case of alleged human rights violations. This year's case was written by Eric Tardif, a legal adviser to the International Committee of the Red Cross's regional delegation to Mexico, Central America and Cuba, and focuses on "Emerging Challenges in the Relationship between International Humanitarian Law and International Human Rights Law."

  • Impact Litigation Project Participates in Public Hearing of Inter-American Court of Human Rights in Costa Rica

    On May 16, the Impact Litigation Project participated in a special public hearing of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in Costa Rica. Three AUWCL students, Facundo Capurro, Natalia Gomez Pena, and Whitney Washington, supervised by Professor Macarena Saez, presented arguments on international law requirements regarding a potential statute on change of legal name according to gender identity.
