| Description: |
Organized by the
Sexualities Section
of the Latin
American Studies
Association, and
hosted by the
American
University of
Washington
College of Law,
this workshop
brings together
scholars, legal
activists, and
practitioners from
across the
hemisphere to
discuss Latin
America’s sexual
revolution and to
try to answer some
of these questions.
Particular attention
is given to the
judicialization of
sexual rights
expansion and the
changing nature of
traditional
definitions of what
constitutes a
family. As such,
panelists from
across disciplines
and perspectives
will look at the role
the courts have
played in the
advancement of
rights and
challenges to
heteronormative
conceptions of the
family. |
