Atala v. Chile: Same-Sex Families and the Best Interest of the Child under International Law

Date: 04/19/12
Times: 12:00PM - 02:00PM
Description: In 2004, the Supreme Court of Chile denied Judge Karen Atala custody of her three daughters because she is a lesbian and was living with her same-sex partner. Last year, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights issued a resolution finding Chile in violation of international human rights law, and filed suit in the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. Please join us for a discussion of this groundbreaking case, featuring the attorneys who represented Chile and Judge Atala, as well as a videoconference with Judge Atala herself.
