- Click the Start button, and then click Settings and Control Panel.
- Under Pick a category, click Network and Internet Connections.
- Under or pick a Control Panel icon, click on Network Connections.
- Right-click your wireless network connection, and then click Properties.
- The Wireless Network Connections Properties box will display three tabs at the top: General, Wireless Networks and Advanced. Click on the Wireless Networks tab.
- Click on the Advanced button located near the bottom of the box.
If only General and Advanced tabs are available, Windows is NOT managing your wireless card. Ad-hoc networking must be disabled using the management utility that is associated with your wireless card.
- Select Access point (infrastructure) networks only.
- Click Close and then click OK.
