Zhejiang Gongshang University (ZJGSU) is a public university located in Hangzhou, which is the capital city of Zhejiang Province and borders Shanghai in the east of China.  The University has a student population of over 21,000 and offers forty-five bachelor degree programs, thirty-seven master degree programs and three doctor degree programs in the fields of economics, administration, science, engineering, law, literature and arts.

This law program aims to provide students with the legal training which is indispensable for a future career in legislative, administrative, judicial, arbitral institutions, legal service organizations and businesses. The program is designed to help students learn to work hard, think critically and creatively, and communicate clearly and persuasively--core skills that will serve them well.

The program is offered in both the spring and fall semesters. Exams can be taken early in either semester.

LANGUAGE OF INSTRUCTION

The official language of instruction at the Zhejiang Gongshang University law program is English.  However, it is strongly recommended that you learn Chinese. Chinese language courses are also offered for free.

COURSES

Students will receive up to 12 credits towards their law degree. Only the credits and not the grades will transfer per ABA requirements. The acceptance of any credit or grade for any courses taken at Zhejiang Gongshang University, including externships and other clinical offerings, is subject to determination by the WCL, Office of the Registrar. WCL students will be enrolled in courses specifically geared to exchange students.

HOUSING AND COST OF LIVING

The International House at the Jiao Gong Lu Campus has about 40 apartments for international students. Each apartment has three bedrooms, one sitting room, one toilet and one bath room. The apartments are equipped with hot water, telephones, televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, air-conditioners and access to the Internet.

Housing costs approximately RMB900 per month ($130) and food costs about RMB500 per month ($75) for an average student.
