Class Taping Requests

When possible and appropriate, students who need to miss classes may have them videotaped by the Office of Technology. A student must make a written an email request of the Office of Student Affairs ,the professor of the class that is being missed, and the Media Control Center (mcc@wcl.american.edu) to have a class videotaped. Third-party documentation accompanying the request is may be required to fulfill such requests; the documentation should be provided in advance when the situation warrants, or following the need for class taping when prior documentation is unavailable.

Essentially, classes will be authorized when a compelling, nonvolitional circumstance causes a student to have to miss a class. Such circumstances may include a death in the family, or serious family or medical emergencies; observance of a religious holiday; and jury duty. Other circumstances may also arise and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis in consultation with the Associate Dean for Student Affairs. Student should carefully consider their situation before making the request.
