Current S.J.D. Students
Luna Barakat, an S.J.D. candidate at American University Washington College of Law, is completing her dissertation titled “Silent Corporate Complicity in Human Rights Violations Under Principles of Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Governance.” Her fields of study and professional expertise include: international human rights law and international humanitarian law. Prior to joining the Washington College of Law’s S.J.D. program, Ms. Barakat led a legal practice in Israel that specialized in working with governmental and non-governmental actors to understand and promote their human rights obligations. She also participated in the Law & Business Fellowship Program at the Wharton School through which she worked at Reed Smith LLP, Philadelphia, on cases involving Guantanamo Bay detainees, asylum and death penalty cases.
