This panel discussion brings together several preeminent women's legal history scholars to talk about their books, the history of women in the legal profession in America, and the role that the law school's founders, Ellen Spencer Mussey and Emma Gillett, played in the women lawyers' movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The panelists will also discuss the role that these pioneering lawyers played in advancing other women's rights causes, such as women's suffrage and the Equal Rights Amendment. Historical pieces from the Pence Law Library's archives will be on display.
