This Conference addresses the role of whistleblowers in protecting food integrity and the legal, political and societal hurdles they face. Food is a shared resource among all peoples. Whether you are a worker, farmer, attorney, or government employee, we are all consumers and we are all impacted by the food we eat. Not surprisingly, conflicts and questions surrounding food safety, security, and sustainability are prevalent worldwide. Whistleblowers play a critical role in bringing those issues to light. This Conference takes a global food perspective from the eyes of whistleblowers and citizen activists working for integrity in food production, transportation, processing, distribution and consumption. Conference panels and workshops will address issues as varied as workers? rights, humane handling, food importation and the use of food additives. The Conference will explore legal interest areas ranging from First Amendment Law, Environmental Law, Torts, Criminal Law and Homeland Security. In addition to panels, the Conference will also feature four breakout workshops.
