PROGRAM FLYER
The U.S. Department of Justice was a principal casualty of the Bush Administration. The Department was embroiled in charges that it: allowed partisan considerations to infect law enforcement decisions and the hiring of career attorneys, failed to enforce laws protecting civil rights and the environment, espoused an expansive view of Executive power to justify torture, unrestrained detention, failed military commissions, and warrantless surveillance, and invoked the state secrets privilege to block litigation seeking accountability. This program will examine the Department's progress toward restoring the Department during the first year of the Obama Administration.
