FOIA Community Conference on the FOIA Amendments of 2007

This program will be the first anywhere to address the 2007 Freedom of Information Act Amendments, which were signed into law on December 31. It will cover all of the amendments’ provisions, including several that took effect immediately upon enactment, with particular focus on their creation of the Office of Government Information Services at the National Archives and Records Administration. Speakers will include:
- Gary M. Stern, General Counsel, National Archives and Records Administration
- Meredith Fuchs, General Counsel, National Security Archive
- Pete Weitzel, Freedom of Information Coordinator, the Coalition of Journalists for Open Government
- Loren A. Cochran, FOIA Service Center Director for the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press
- Rick Blum, Coordinator of the Sunshine in Government Initiative
- Kevin M. Goldberg, Legal Counsel for the American Society of Newspaper Editors
- Matthew L. Johnson, Chief Counsel to Sen. John Cornyn
- Patrice McDermott, Director, OpenTheGovernment.org
The program will be conducted by WCL’s new Collaboration on Government Secrecy, the first academic center of its kind established at any law school in the United States.
