This conference will address contemporary issues in the Muslim world related to Islamic law, development, human rights, women's rights and international law that will be of interest to Muslims and non-Muslims alike. Speakers will address the current state of Islamic law and its possibilities for survival and advancement in the modern world. Other topics to be addressed will include the relevance of Islamic law in the West, the plurality of religions including a discussion of the different schools of thought within the Islamic faith, the future of Muslims in the mainstream, humanitarian law and Islam, and women's rights.
