2005 Founders' Celebration Events
Trade as the Guarantor of Peace, Liberty & Security?
This event will take place regardless of inclement weather.
February 24-26, 2005
Room 603
The aim of the conference is to explore the relationship between ideology of free trade and the ideals of liberty, human dignity and peace. Specifically the IELG Annual Meeting explores the validity of the belief expressed by John Stuart Mill, Claude Bastiat and others that free trade helps promote peace and liberty. The conference seeks to examine this belief from historical and modern day perspectives. The papers presented at this conference will present a rich and diverse response to the question posed by the title of the conference from empirical, historical and philosophical perspectives.
