Dear WCL Students, Administrators, Faculty, and Staff:

As we have all seen from continuous news reports this week, Hurricane Katrina has left a level of devastation never before seen in America's history. But in times like these, America shows its compassion. The outpouring of support here at the Washington College of Law has been truly encouraging and heartwarming. Through a unified effort, we can fight back the feeling of utter helplessness and loss, which so may of our fellow law students and citizens surely feel at this difficult time.

In conjunction with American University's undergraduate and graduate student government entities, the Student Bar Association (SBA) is leading a University-wide effort called KARE, the Katrina Aid & Relief Effort. During the month of September, we will work to raise funds here at the law school, all of which will be contributed to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. We hope you will continue to show compassion throughout the entire month of September and participate in the fundraising events and initiatives detailed below.

Thank you for your anticipated support of this very important cause.

With deep gratitude and best wishes,
SBA President Adam J. Cohen & Vice President Jon Feere
