Description

Advanced Issues in International Intellectual Property Law -- | -- This course will survey a number of current legal and policy debates in international intellectual property law. The course will be composed of a series of one day short courses on specific topics taught by leading experts in the field. Topics covered will include: the law and economics of intellectual property and access to generic versions of patented medicines in developing countries; recent developments in the interpretation of the World Trade Organization agreement on Trade Related Aspects of International Property Rights (TRIPS) by the WTO dispute resolution panel; legal and policy issues associated with the rise of the “enforcement agenda” in international intellectual property; new paradigms for promoting research and investment of needed medicines; and the evolving domestic and international law associated with digital file sharing. Grading for academic credit will be determined through administration of a short take home essay examination due within three weeks of the end of the course.
