Description
This two-credit seminar will explore topics related to the international, regional, and comparative law of Sub-Saharan Africa, with course modules exploring topics such as customary/Islamic law, South African law and legal system, constitutional law, human rights, elections and democracy, judicial independence, corruption and transparency, and the legal profession. The course will end in a twenty to twenty-five page paper on a topic of the student's choice, and students will also be graded on a single in-class presentation.
