Description

This course will analyze a series of differing incidents and transactions that highlight the significance of international law - public, private and mixed. Emphasis will be placed in certain cases on responses by the United States foreign policy establishment and in other cases on transnational business and financial considerations. Subjects to be covered will include: the use of force, both overt and covert; economic sanctions; peaceful dispute resolution; treaty-making; internal United States Government conflict and process; domestic court effect; extraterritoriality; comity and reciprocity; international organizations; and conflicts of jurisdiction.
