Description

This course surveys key elements and recent developments in the European Union’s treatment of climate change. The course introduces students to the EU since its inception in 1957, briefly addressing its main primary and secondary law sources and then looks at the EU climate policy in the 1990s, in particular the UN Rio Conference and the Kyoto Protocol negotiations, and the implementation of the Protocol in the EU. It then looks to the main challenges facing EU climate change law and policy in the coming years.
