Description
This course is about the interaction between international law and international politics. It seeks to examine: whether and when is international law followed by states; what are the political influences on the creation and application of international law; and what are the political problems which international law faces. In each class we will take up an event of very recent history, and try to critically evaluate the international law which applies to it, and the international politics that are involved. In the process of doing this we will go over decisions of international and national courts around the world, and scholarly work of contemporary scholars.
