IMPORTANT: CLASS WILL MEET IN SMALL GROUPS FOR AN EXTRA HOUR EVERY OTHER WEEK. The time/place of this extra meeting is determined by the professor. REGISTRATION: There are two parts to registering for an externship: 1) Register on-line for the seminar as you would for any class. 2) Register for the field placement by going to the Externship Page www.wcl.american.edu/externship and submit a Request for Approval, which generates the necessary forms.

Description

The environmental externship combines the strength of the externship program with dynamic opportunities to experience public interest environmental law, both in the classroom and the field. Basic domestic and international environmental legal precepts are covered, as are various litigation, lobbying and communication strategies. Past students have worked in advocacy groups, government agencies, trade associations, UN organizations, legislative offices and pro bono firms (among others). If you are seeking assistance in finding a field placement in the field of environmental law please contact Professor William Snape.
