During the seminar, students learn the skill of developing case theories, interviewing and examining witnesses, introducing evidence, giving opening statements and closing arguments, and questioning potential jurors during voir dire. During the externship, through the supervision of public defenders, students interview clients and witnesses, visit incarcerated clients, conduct legal research, prepare pleadings and legal memoranda, and attend trials and hearings.
