Description

This Course surveys the laws and policies that govern the modern estate planning practice with specific focus on wills, trusts and advanced directives. Students will consider contemporary issues involving wills and trusts as well as traditional topics of testamentary capacity, intent, revocation, ademption, abatement, and lapse. Students will also explore the many issues related to the rights of children, surviving spouses, domestic partners and pets. Students’ grades are based on their performance on drafting exercises, in class assignments, class participation and a final exam.
