Description
Employment and Labor Law: The Employment Relationship
This course traces the law of the employment relationship. It follows chronologically through the entire relationship: screening of applicants, hiring, terms and conditions of employment, freedoms in the work-place, safety and health, discharge and termination, post-employment restrictions, and retirement. The course covers discrimination (Title 7, ADEA, ADA), sexual harassment, OSHA, workers compensation, and constitutional issues. Although it principally covers non-union settings, there will be comparisons with how these matters are dealt with in a union and union organizing context. There is no pre-requisite. There will be a final exam and no term paper.
