ATTENTION: Class will not meet on Monday, August 29, 2005. The make up class for August 29 will be held on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 1 at 11 a.m. in Room 504. You already have the decisions which will be discussed during this session covering Week 2. You also have the assignment in your Syllabus for Weeks 3 and 4. Due to Labor Day, we will not meet on Monday, September 5 but we will meet the following week, Monday September 12. We will inform you when the duplication of all the cases and Treaties will be available at WCL.

Description

Examines various dispute resolution techniques, including negotiation, mediation, arbitration, minitrials, and negotiated rule making, as alternatives or supplements to court litigation and administrative agency adjudication. Tactical and ethical issues as well as emerging legal and public policy issues (e.g., use of mandatory arbitration clauses) will be covered, and student participatory role-plays will be used extensively to give the course a practical dimension.
