Across The Street
Written By Sebastian Goldstein
(To the tune of "Home" from Beauty and the Beast (The Musical))

Tell me not to Talk
Then tell me not to dream
But how can I be happy serving latés with whipped cream?
I'm Lost!
This can't be the life that I was made meant to live
All this "take," where's the give.

Is this true?
Is this how my life has been predestined?
Coffee beans,
Same old scenes, and the 'daily grind.'
In my mind.
Every day for a lifetime
Hoped that my chance would come
Out there could be an answer
Make all my dreams complete
My mind's there, far away
'Cross the street

Does this job
Represent all that life has to offer
Feeling slow?
Cup of Joe gets you through the day

There's no play
With two brothers that mock me
A boss with no clue at all

Oh if I was in Law school
My life would be complete
But that's there, and I'm here
'Cross the street

For one day
Far away
Learning law, not grinding coffee
Find my place get some space
In a world, where I am free.

Is this me?

Is this all I can hope to amount to?
"Grind the beans!"
"Fluff the Muffins!" and "Mop the floor!"
Oh once more,
I have glanced my potential, seen
Through an open door.
In those great halls of knowledge
Great minds and friends I'd meet

But from here
Just the view
Window seat

My heart's there, learning law
'Cross the Street
