Pakistani Journalists Visit WCL for Intensive Human Rights & Gender Training Program, May 15th - June 17th In 2008, WCL Center for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law received a grant to support a year-long program of capacity building, academic exchange, and program development to enhance human rights and gender programming at the Campus Radio and Campus Television Stations at the University of Peshawar in Pakistan. Established by the University of Peshawar Journalism Department, Campus Radio has been an important tool in creating an awareness of human rights, public health, and educational issues within the Northwest Frontier Province and even over the border into Afghanistan. This new project will encourage the use of media (both radio and television) to expand programming in the arena of human rights, gender and rule of law by building support for the University of Peshawar Campus Radio and Television stations. WCL to Host Intensive Three-Week Program on Environmental Law The
Summer Session on Environmental Law provides law students and practitioners with an opportunity for intensive environmental law training during a three-week period. Courses are taught by leading practitioners from government, business, and non-governmental organizations. Subjects include Trade and Environment in the Americas; Climate Change and Emissions Trading; and Environmental Law & the U.S. Congress, among others. Courses will be taught by leading practitioners in the field including: David Hunter, Director Environmental Law Program, WCL; David Downes, Senior Trade Advisor, Office of the Secretary, U.S. Department of the Interior; Nuno Lacasta, Head of the Office of International Affairs at the Portuguese Ministry for Urban Affairs, Spatial Planning and the Environment; and Gustavo Alanis, President and Founder, Centro Mexicano de Derecho Ambiental, leading environmental law organization in Mexico.

WCL To Host Delegation from Ono Academic College, May 17-20 May 17-20, WCL will host three faculty members from the law school at Ono Academic College in Israel: Dr. Amichai Chohen, Dr. Dana Pugach, and Dr. Yaacov Ben-Shemesh. The delegation will join the WCL community for Commencement festivities, as well as meet with faculty who focus on their respective areas of expertise, including international human rights and criminal law, to learn about experiential courses offered by WCL. The three professors will also participate in the 13th Annual Inter-American Human Rights Moot Court Competition as judges for one of the sessions on Tuesday, May 20.
