1860, includes a list of 22 individuals arrested and presumed missing in Chile. The corresponding denunciations were submitted to the CIDH during its on-site investigation in Chile conducted between July and August of 1974 (thirty-third session).

In a note dated July 29, 1974, the Commission requested the Government of Chile to provide the corresponding information. In a note of October 25, 1974, (No. 18111) the Government of Chile provided information on the status of 11 of the individuals involved, offering to provide the rest of the data as soon as the pertinent inquiries have been made. The rest was sent through a note of January 16, 1975 (NO. 1046), in which the Government of Chile provided further information on the status of the proceedings held in connection with one of the individual arrested.

The Commission examined case 1860 during its thirty-fifth session (May 1975), together with the information provided by the Government of Chile. It decided the following:

1. To request the Government of Chile that, as in the case of individuals arrested by virtue of the state of siege it kindly report whether these individuals are soon to be released or whether, on the contrary, if there are charges against them, they will be brought to trial and;
2. To also request that Government to update the information provided with regard to the status of those individuals concerning whom inquiries are still being made to establish their situation.

Pursuant to the above decision, a note was sent to the Government of Chile on August 5, 1975.

At the thirty-sixth session (October 1975) the Commission considered the status of the case and, noting that the request filed on August 5, 1975, was still in effect, it decided to postpone examination of the case until its next session.
