The 19th Annual Burton D. Wechsler Moot Court Competition and the American University Washington College of Law Moot Court Honor Society are pleased to announce that the Honorable Paul D. Clement, 43rd Solicitor General of the United States, has agreed to join the Honorable Judges Denny Chin, Marsha S. Berzon, Timothy B. Dyk, and Reggie Walton to become the fifth and final member of the Competition's Final Panel!

The Hon. Denny Chin was first nominated to the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York by President Clinton in 1994. As a federal district judge, Judge Chin presided over the landmark cases of Fox v. Franken and United States v. Madoff. He was nominated to the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit by President Obama in 2009, where he has sat since being confirmed in 2010.

The Hon. Marsha S. Berzon was nominated to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit by President Clinton. She has sat on the Ninth Circuit since 2000. Prior to taking the bench, she served as a clerk for Associate Supreme Court Justice William J. Brennan, Jr.

The Hon. Timothy B. Dyk was nominated to the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit by President Clinton. He has served on the Federal Circuit since 2000. Prior to taking the bench, he had clerked for retired Associate Supreme Court Justices Stanley Reed, Harold Burton, and Supreme Court Chief Justice Earl Warren.

The Hon. Reggie Walton is a 1974 alumnus of the American University Washington College of Law currently serving on the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. He has presided over the cases of United States v. Libby and United States v. Clemens. He was nominated to the bench by President George W. Bush in 2001.

The Hon. Paul D. Clement served as Solicitor General of the United States from 2004-2008, during the George W. Bush Administration. He has argued over fifty cases before the United States Supreme Court, including the landmark cases of United States v. Booker, Rumsfeld v. Padilla, and Hamdi v. Rumsfeld, in addition to have served as a clerk for Justice Antonin Scalia.
