As you can see, becoming a member of the Inter-school team is a great way not only to improve your oral advocacy and writing skills, but also to meet law students throughout the country.
To become a member of the Inter-school Team, students must compete in the Spring Qualifying Tournament. Please click the Spring Qualifying Tournament link for more details of that competition. Once on the team, students are assigned to a specific national competition. Team members are required to take an advocacy course appropriate for their competition. Such courses operate as great training grounds for our team members.
The problems/fact patterns for the relevant competitions usually arrive in December/January, at which time team members start the task of writing their briefs. Once briefs are drafted and submitted to the respective competitions, teams begin to prepare and to perfect their oral arguments in front of fellow students, professors, lawyers, and judges. By the Spring, teams are off to their competitions. Moot Court provides all travel expenses.
Joining the Inter-school Team provides a terrific opportunity to improve your writing and oral advocacy skills. Inter-school Moot Court will challenge you, but it also remains a truly fun activity. For more information on the Inter-school Team please feel free to contact the Moot Court Office at 202-274-4401.
