The Health Law and Justice Initiative (HLJI) is a student-run organization that seeks to promote health law opportunities for WCL students. HLJI seeks to encourage professional development, explore career opportunities, expand the health law curriculum, and raise awareness of the right to health. HLJI accomplishes these goals by sponsoring panel discussions with practicing attorneys and professors; organizing community service events; and hosting "downtown practitioner meetings" which give students the opportunity to meet with practicing lawyers at their places of work to discuss current issues and career development. If you would like more information about HLJI, please email hlji@wcl.american.edu or ap4993a@american.edu.

Stay Up-To-Date on HLJI News & Events

1) Add Health Law & Justice Initiative to your courses on TWEN

Don't miss official announcements – add HLJI as one of your TWEN courses:

  1. Go to http://lawschool.westlaw.com/twen and log in.
  2. On upper toolbar, click "Drop/Add Course."
  3. Scroll down and check the box by "WCL Health Law & Justice Initiative."
  4. Click submit at bottom of page.

2) Join the HLJI Listserv

To subscribe to our listserv, send an email to ap4993a@american.edu with “Subscribe to HLJI Listserv” in the subject line. Although HLJI uses TWEN to announce official health law events at WCL, HLJI members can use the listserv to post other information (job opportunities, articles, networking events, etc.), whether directly related to WCL or not.
