WCL Launches Podcasting to Keep Students on Cutting Edge
WCL is offering a new service to keep students, faculty, staff and others on the cutting edge of technological advancement. Podcasting will allow members within and outside of our community to download audio content from events and activities to their iPod to listen to at their leisure. Now you can hear events such as the Scalia-Breyer discussion and other activities when and where you wish. More

Prof. Susan Carle Appointed Assoc. Dean of Scholarship
Professor Susan Carle has been appointed as WCL's first Associate Dean of Scholarship. In addition to continuing her teaching responsibilities, Prof. Carle will be involved in "coordinating mentoring activities, serving as a focal point for our institutional memory, and promoting internal and external developments concerning scholarship," said Dean Claudio Grossman. Carle is an active scholar, having won awards for her papers and research. She specializes in legal ethics, the legal profession and labor/employment law. More

Since 1988 she was a library faculty member handling Serials and Acquisitions, completing eighteen years of service with us earlier this spring. More

WCL Hosts Washington Seminar for Japanese Law School Partners August 8-19
WCL is proud to host partner law school Ritsumeikan School of Law for the occasion of the Washington Seminar, developed to provide Ritsumeikan law students with an overview of the U.S. legal system. WCL professors and guest lecturers from the U.S. government and Washington legal community will offer a mix of classroom teaching and site visits to D.C. legal public and private institutions, including the U.S. Supreme Court and the Nation's Capitol.

A Note From The Dean Regarding The Loss Of Marla Schwartz, Law Library Faculty
It is with great sadness that I am informing all of you that Marla Schwartz passed away this morning at 1:30 am. Marla had a long and committed career of service at WCL. Since 1988 she was a library faculty member handling Serials and Acquisitions, completing eighteen years of service with us earlier this spring. Marla Schwartz had been seriously ill for more than four years and battled her illness with tremendous courage and inner strength, working at WCL until the very end. Services are scheduled for 10 am on Thursday at the Washington Hebrew Congregation on Massachusetts Avenue. She is survived by her husband, Howard. We will present condolences to him on behalf of the whole community. -- Claudio Grossman More

Second Annual Seminar on International Commercial Arbitration
The International Commercial Arbitration seminar is an intensive and advanced four-day program providing critical skills and practical insight into handling a construction case under the International Rules of Arbitration of the American Arbitration Association's (AAA) International Centre for Dispute Resolution. The seminar is taught by leading practitioners in the field and runs from Sep. 12-15. More

WCL is proud to co-host the NLLSA Conference as it convenes for the first time in Washington, D.C. NLLSA is a non-partisan organization driven by a progressive agenda that protects and advances the civil rights of Latina/o(s) in law school and in their respective communities. The conference provides an opportunity to discuss legal issues in the Latina/o community, and also features a career fair, community service event, and Latin American law student exchange. More
