Business Law Brief Transitions to DC's First Comprehensive Business Law Review
American University Washington College of Law’s Business Law Brief, a student-run publication launched in 2004, is making the transition to a full law journal starting in 2011. The new Business Law Review will launch with a reception at Acadiana Restaurant in Washington, DC on Thursday, Jan. 20 at 6 p.m. "The work and dedication of all the students and faculty members involved has ensured that the new Business Law Review will not only be a perfect addition to the law school’s business offerings but also become a driving force in the field of business law,” said Dean Claudio Grossman. Law School Celebrates Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. 
On Thursday, Jan. 20, at 4 p.m., American University Washington College of Law will host its 12th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Program and Reception. This tradition honors the birth and work of Dr. King through a keynote address and a collaborative reading of a King text, or other appropriate literature, by faculty, staff, and students. This year's program will feature a keynote presentation by associate professor Lia Epperson, pictured at right . The event is sponsored by the Office of Diversity Services. MORE
Student Profile: Chemistry Major Leaves Lab Behind for the Public Defender's Office 
Evan Wilson '12 has taken an unconventional path to American University Washington College of Law. He started as a physical chemistry major at Harvard, before discovering a passion for arguing and taking classes that piqued his interest in the law. "To me, this law school seemed to embody exactly what I was looking for," Wilson said. Last summer, Wilson worked for the Office of the Public Defender in Baltimore. Symposium Looks at Future of Legal Practice
The " Future of Legal Practice: Notable Trends Across Employment Sectors" symposium, taking place Feb. 10, will consist of three dynamic roundtable discussions and will conclude with a lunch program presented by Werten Bellamy, Esq., president of Stakeholders, Inc., a consulting company focused on meeting the career management needs of legal employers. Discussion will focus on the current legal landscape, the state of the legal profession, and anticipated market trends. MORE.
Event on Wikileaks Addresses First Amendment Questions 
American University Washington College of Law hosted an event on Jan. 11 titled “Wikileaks, The Espionage Act, and the First Amendment: The Law, Politics, and Policy of Prosecuting Julian Assange.” A panel of experts, including Professor Stephen Vladeck and fellows in law and government Daniel Marcus and Stephen Wermiel, debated many of the issues surrounding WikiLeaks and the prosecution of the site's founder Julian Assange. New Summer Program on International Organizations, Law, and Diplomacy
American University's School of International Service and Washington College of Law have created a new interdisciplinary Program on International Organizations, Law, and Diplomacy. The program will be taught through courses, conferences, seminars, and experiential learning opportunities in two parts: the first in Washington, DC, the second in Geneva, Switzerland. The program will be open to students from American University as well as U.S. and international students from other academic centers, governments officials, and academics and members of civil society organizations that work with international organizations.
