Loan Forgiveness and Payment Assistance
There are a number of programs for loan forgiveness or repayment assistance. Programs are provided by the Washington College of Law, various state governments, and the federal government. All graduates are encouraged to investigate their eligibly for LRAP assistance beyond WCL.
Public Service Loan Forgiveness for those employed in the public service sector: including federal, state and local governments and non-profit [501(c)3] organizations.
A number of states including DC, MD and VA offer loan repayment assistance programs to public interest lawyers . For information about current state-based LRAPs, please go to the Equal Justice Works website or the ABA website.
The John R. Justice Student Loan Repayment Program (JRJ) - Repayment assistance for state and federal public defenders and state prosecutors who agree to remain employed as public defenders and prosecutors for a designated period of time.
- The federal government (Office of Personnel Management) offers loan repayment assistance as a benefit to individuals employed in certain government agencies.
