Dean Claudio Grossman, in his role as chair of the United Nations Committee against Torture (UN CAT), will present the Committee's annual address to the UN General Assembly in New York on Tuesday. Dean Grossman and Juan Mendez, UN Special Rapporteur on Torture, also will participate in a panel on "Identifying and Overcoming Challenges to Ratification and Implementation of the UN Convention against Torture" presented by the Convention against Torture Initiative (CTI) and the government of Denmark. In addition, Dean Grossman will meet with the Secretary General of the UN. As part of this trip, Dean Grossman organized a dinner with select AUWCL alumni Monday evening to discuss new initiatives taking place at the law school, including the latest news about the Tenley Campus.
On Tuesday, Judge Siniša Rodin of the Court of Justice of the European Union will deliver a presentation at AUWCL on "Judging at the European Court of Justice." The event is sponsored by the Program on International Organizations, Law and Diplomacy, the European Law Students Association, and AU School of Public Affairs. MORE
