Internships/Externships

Are you interested in ensuring an internship/externship in human rights for the 2012 summer? Students who take summer Human Rights courses through the Academy on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law and complete courses in excellent standing become candidates for a number of prestigious human rights internship/externship opportunities.     Summer Academy Scholarship
    The ILSP will offer 12 credits to one participant of the Academy.

    For fall: July 1

    For spring: October 1

    Applicants must enroll in the ILSP LLM program in the fall or spring semester immediately following the summer academy in which they participated.

    Applicants must have taken a minimum of 2 courses in one of the academies.

    Submit an essay to llminfo@wcl.american.edu addressing the following:

    Briefly describe a regional, international, or country specific legal problem (related to Human Rights, Environmental Law, Intellectual Property, or Arbitration) and offer your solution to the problem.

    The essay may not exceed 750 words. Please note in the subject of your email Summer Academy Scholarship Essay.

    Inter-American Moot Court Scholarship

    Open to all former and present Inter-American Moot Court Competition participants, the award will grant one full tuition scholarship annually.

    The Inter-American Human Rights Moot Court Competition is a unique trilingual (English, Portuguese, and Spanish) competition established to train law students how to use the Inter-American human rights legal system as a legitimate forum for redressing human rights violations.

    Scholarship winners must begin the LLM program in the fall.

    Applicants must have be a current or past participant in the Inter-American Moot Court Competition.

    Applicants MUST have submitted a complete application to the ILSP LLM program before May 1 to be eligible.

    Submit an essay to llminfo@wcl.american.edu addressing the following:

    Briefly describe your experience in the competition and explain why you want to pursue an LLM in the ILSP.

    The essay may not exceed 750 words. Please note in the subject of your email Moot Court Scholarship Essay .
