Events

In addition to specialized courses and the Human Rights Month events, the Academy also hosts special activities for its participants. These events are open to participants enrolled in any of the Academy courses.

 

 

Orientation


A general orientation of the Program will be held for you to pick up reading materials, register to attend the different special events, and make changes in your course selection. This will be your first opportunity to meet the other participants.

Attendance is mandatory.

Dinner will be served.

Night Tour of the Monuments

Take a bus tour of Washington DC's most famous monuments as they light up at night. The tour will include the National Mall, the White House, The Smithsonian Museums, the US Capitol, The Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial and maybe the FDR and Martin Luther King Jr. Memorials if we have enough time.

Potomac River Cruise

Sail down the Potomac River enjoying spectacular views of Washington D.C.

Cruise includes dinner and dancing.

Semi-formal attire is recommended.

It will take approximately one hour via metro, so plan accordingly. The boat DOES NOT WAIT FOR ANYBODY.

The boat departs at 8PM sharp. (The boat does not wait for late arrivals.)

Inter-American Commission on Human Rights and visit to the Organization of American States (English Only)

Visit the organization in charge of promoting the observance and defense of human rights in the member countries of the Inter-American System.

There will be two tours, one for English speakers and another for Spanish speakers. The Spanish tour is mandatory for students of Sistema Interamericana. For information on the Spanish Tour date click here
