Communication No. 1702, dated February 5, 1971, denouncing the deaths of Deputy Dr. Adolfo Mijangos and the union leaders Jaime Monge and Tereso de Jesús Oliva, as well as prosecution and other attempts against the life and integrity of members of the opposition to the government.
In a note dated May 10, 1971, the Commission requested that the Government of Guatemala supply the corresponding information, in accordance with Articles 42 and 44 of its Regulations.
At its Twenty-sixth Session (October-November 1971), the Commission observed that the Government of Guatemala had not replied. Accordingly, it decided to repeat its request for information with mention of the 180-day period prescribed in Article 51 of its Regulations for supplying the corresponding information, and sent a note to this effect to the government concerned on November 16, 1971.
The Government of Guatemala has not responded to the latter communication.
