Special Rapporteur on Torture releases a report following up on a recent trip to Uruguay

Last week, UN Special Rapporteur on Torture and WCL Professor Juan Méndez presented his most recent report at the 22nd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council. One of the addenda to this report contains information on his follow-up to country visits, and includes the SRT’s conclusions and recommendations after his visit to Uruguay in December 2012. Read the Special Rapporteur’s observations and further considerations in the follow-up report.

The Special Rapporteur’s report and visit were prepared with assistance from the Anti-Torture Initiative (ATI) at the Center for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law at Washington College of Law. Explore how the ATI supports the mandate of the Special Rapporteur.
