Accountability for the Security Sector in Risk Environments (ASSURE) Project Fall Internship
The Center’s Accountability for the Security Sector in Risk Environments (ASSURE) Project, part of the Initiative for Human Rights in Business (IHRIB), is searching for a legal intern for the fall semester. IHRIB, a project of the Center for Human Rights & Humanitarian Law is dedicated to improving the human rights of individuals and communities worldwide who are impacted by business and economic development.
The Accountability for the Security Sector in Risk Environments (ASSURE) Project intern will support the Initiative’s Co-Directors in an array of activities to conduct research and draft reports related to government and multi-stakeholder efforts to ensure adequate oversight and accountability for the private military and security industry, as well as to develop business and human rights trainings for security providers. The intern’s responsibilities will include some or all of the following: conducting analysis of primary and secondary sources on industry practices; analyzing industry regulations and national laws; research and writing; and preparing educational and training materials on human rights and humanitarian law. Successful applicants will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, a demonstrated interest in human rights and humanitarian law, and exceptional research and writing skills in English.
