Project Partners Meeting and Labor & Employment Rights Training Held in Texas
Project Partners Texas RioGrande Legal Aid and Maryland Legal Aid met in Austin, Texas on August 1-2, 2012 to share best practices and discuss next steps for the Project. Staff from both partner organizations had been attending the National Legal Aid and Defenders Association Litigation Directors meeting in Austin, Texas and decided this was a good opportunity to meet with each other again. The Texas Partners Meeting was held at Texas RioGrande Legal Aid’s Austin office and focused on a discussion, facilitated by Project Director Lauren Bartlett, regarding concrete goals for operationalizing human rights or reflecting human rights principles in office systems and staff to staff relationships.
On August 3, 2012, Project Consultant and Advisory Board Member Sarah Paoletti and Project Director Lauren Bartlett held a training for Texas RioGrande Legal Aid staff and pro bono partners on integrating human rights into labor and employment work. Over 35 attorneys attended the training, held at Texas RioGrande Legal Aid’s office in San Antonio, Texas.
