12-1:20pm, Room 402
Invitation
Following a New York Times report that the US now acknowledged its practice of transferring terrorism suspects to foreign countries known for torturing prisoners in interrogations, the Center for Human Rights hosted this event to discuss how the US may be relying upon torture abroad.
Panelists included:
- Morton Sklar, Executive Director of the World Organization for Human Rights USA, who discussed the case of Amar Abu Ali, a US citizen tortured in Saudi Arabia and recently returned to the US;
- Elisa Massimino of Human Rights First, who talked about Guantanamo Bay cases and laws that are applicable to rendition.
