The closest Metrorail stop to American University is Tenleytown/AU (also called Tenley Circle) which is on the Red Line. A map of the DC metrorail system is always helpful.
Public Metro buses run on regular schedules down Massachusetts Avenue and from Tenley Circle down Yuma Street, N.W. to the Law School.

Walking from Metrorail
The Law School building is about a one mile (1.6 kilometers) walk, through a residential area, from the Tenleytown/AU Metrorail Station. If walking: exit the Station and proceed to Albemarle Street. Turn right on to Albemarle Street. Follow Albemarle Street to 48th Street, NW. Turn left on 48th and proceed about four blocks to Massachusetts Avenue, N.W. The Law School is situated on your right. Enter it from the Massachusetts Avenue side.
Taxicab service information
Taxi service from Union Station, any airport, or other city or suburban location is available. When using such a service be sure to instruct the driver to take you to 4801 Massachusetts Ave., N.W. rather than just to American University, because the Washington College of Law is not situated on the main AU campus. Fares vary but a taxi ride from Union Station costs about $14 and one from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport costs about $18 for a single passenger. Taxi rides from Dulles International Airport or Baltimore-Washington International Airport are quite long and thus expensive. Therefore, we suggest that you consider taking some other form of ground transportation into the city from either of these locations.
