Human Rights in the US: A Free Training for Legal Aid Attorneys in Southern California, Thurs. Jul. 18, 2013, at UC Irvine Law, 401 E. Peltason Drive, Irvine, CA 92697. This free day-long training for legal aid attorneys in Southern California will focus on an introduction to human rights and practical ways in which human rights can be applied to daily work in the legal aid context. 6 CLE credits will be available to attorneys licensed in CA. Human Rights Advocacy in the U.S.: A Training for Attorneys, Organizers and Other Public Interest Practitioners in the Greater Miami Area, Fri. Aug. 16 - Sat. Aug. 17, 2013, at University of Miami School of Law, 1311 Miller Road, Coral Gables, FL, 33146. This training will encourage legal aid attorneys, organizers and other public interest practitioners to integrate human rights arguments into advocacy before judges and policy makers, as well as to integrate human rights principles into the client-lawyer relationship and into organizational decision-making systems. Lauren E. Bartlett, Local Human Rights Lawyering Project Director, as well as Nelson Mock, Human Rights Coordinator at Texas RioGrande Legal Aid, will be facilitating the training, along with faculty and staff at the University of Miami. Human Rights Webinar for Legal Aid: Focus on Immigrants' Rights, Fri. Aug. 23, 2013, from 11:30-12:30pm CT/12:30-1:30pm ET. This online training is free to legal aid attorneys in the U.S. and will focus on how to formulate human rights arguments for U.S. courts and policymakers focusing on representing immigrants and immigrants' rights.
