The Center for Human Rights, with the International Visitors’ Program, co-sponsored a presentation by Professor Sabir Alisgandarov. Students, lawyers, and WCL law professors attended the lecture where Alisgandarov gave an overview of the European convention on human rights, how the convention is applied by national courts, and the articles that stipulate the right to a fair trial and presumption of innocence. The lecture was also attended by Hadar Harris, executive director of the Center for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law and Diego Rodriguez, co-director of the Academy on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, both of whom posed questions to Alisgandarov and provided commentary on the subject matter. Professor Alisgandarov is a Junior Faculty Development Program Fellow and International Human Rights Law Lecturer at Azerbaijan University. He is a graduate of Baku State University and author of various articles related to criminal procedure and human rights.
