This year the Center celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Human Rights Brief, a student-run publication and key reference tool for cutting edge developments in human rights, distributed to over 5000 lawyers and activists in 90 countries worldwide. The celebration included a special commemorative issue, containing reflections on the past decade in human rights law from noted academics and activists. Articles in the issue include, “The Development of International Human Rights: Progress and Consolidation,” by Aryeh Neier; “International Human Rights and Criminal Justice in the First Decade of the 21st Century,” by Justice Richard Goldstone; “Development of the African Human Rights System in the Last Decade,” by Vincent O. Nmehielle; “A Decade of NGO Struggle,” by Gay J. McDougall; “The European Court of Human Rights: A Success Story?” by Leo F. Zwaak; “The Evolution of Human Rights and Democracy in Latin America: A Ten Year Perspective,” by Sonia Picado. |
Gay J. McDougall, Executive Director of Global Rights, delivered the keynote address at the celebratory
Tenth Anniversary Dinner. In addition, the Human Rights Brief has launched an alumni advisory board and
has undergone a redesign to update its look for its second decade of publication.
